        Research Focus:  New Science > High Accuracy > Reproducibility > Scalability


We investigate how ions and molecules behave inside angstrom-scale channels, revealing new physical principles that enable precise control over transport. This fundamental understanding allows us to translate nanoscale physics into highly selective, high-performance membranes with real-world impact.


Building on these insights, our group develops advanced 2D material membranes for water purification, clean energy, and environmental applications, where every innovation is built on rigorous fundamental science and driven by practical challenges..


Team Leader Rakesh Joshi has supervised over 20 Research Students (10 PhDs and 10 master’s by research) as Main Supervisor at UNSW Sydney.
